Magic, a 2005 100-foot Hatteras Motoryacht currently listed with HMY Yachts just shy of $4.5 million, was originally built by a very experienced yachtsman who had five Hatteras yachts prior to owning Magic. HMY Yachts says every owner since has kept the 100-footer in Bristol condition. The current owner moved down from a 130-foot motoryacht and decided on this Hatteras over a Westport 112. It’s worth noting that Magic will be at the 2024 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show.

In 2020, the vessel underwent an extensive $1.2 million refit, which included new interior soft goods, fabrics, LED lighting, and appliances.  The main deck had new teak installed, along with updates to walk-arounds, the flybridge, and non-skid surfaces on the deck. Exterior furnishings, cushions, and canvas were also replaced. Additionally, in 2022, Magic received new electronics and audio/visual equipment, and various systems were updated or refurbished.

The interior features rich satin-finished cherry wood joinery, custom sketched-face doors and cabinets, elegant granite and honey onyx finishes. The lounge area has a custom upholstered sofa to starboard, two glass end tables with decorative lamps and custom upholstered barrel chairs with ottomans. The dining area has a custom high-gloss mahogany round dining table by AJ Originals.

The main deck galley is past the forward bulkhead and is equipped with an array of appliances that would impress even the most discerning chef, including:

  • Sub-Zero 700 TR refrigerator and freezer
  • Four Sub-Zero 700 BR refrigerator drawers
  • Two Sub-Zero freezer drawers
  • Bosch induction four-burner glass cook top
  • Bosch dishwasher
  • GE microwave
  • KitchenAid disposal
  • GE trash compactor
  • GE oven

Belowdecks, five staterooms can accommodate up to 10 people. The full-beam master stateroom sits amidships with a centerline king berth, a desk area, a flat-screen TV and an en suite head. Queen guest staterooms are to port and starboard, each with convertible queen berths and en suite heads. The forepeak VIP stateroom has a centerline queen berth, a cedar-lined hanging locker, a flat-screen TV and an en suite head. The final guest cabin has twin over-under berths that sit perpendicular to one another, a cedar-lined hanging locker, a Samsung flat-screen TV and a shared guest head. Aft, the crew quarters can sleep up to four people with the captain’s cabin, two-berth crew cabin and Pullman berth in the crew lounge.

The flybridge has two distinct sections, the open-air section aft and the enclosed forward section under the hardtop. The forward section is an air-conditioned space with a teak deck, a full, four-sided Isinglass enclosure and a Pipewelders custom hardtop. The upper helm station forward has three Stidd 500 series adjustable helm chairs. The open-air section aft has a Jacuzzi hot tub and space for loose lounge furniture.

Magic has a reported 23-knot top hop that’s provided by twin MTU 16V-2000 M90 diesels. The engines currently have 4,725 hours on them and had over $800,000 of work done to them in June 2024.

“Like her siblings, the GT59 is built to suit serious anglers, with 156 square feet of dance floor where owners can mount a leaning post/rocket launcher combination stand or an offset fighting chair. Adding to her fishy nature, there’s an in-transom livewell and a tackle center in the cockpit’s forward starboard corner, under the flybridge ladder and insulated in-deck fish boxes. Teak adds a rich look not only in the cockpit, but also in the coaming boards, and air conditioning vents in the back of the mezzanine seats make watching the trolling action feel, well, ultra cool”, Yachting previously reported.

Change Order has a stout 89,000-pound, bluewater-ready displacement, but this yacht can also go. Powered with twin 1,600 hp Caterpillar C-32A diesel engines, this low-hour (600) 2021 Hatteras GT59 Convertible will quickly spool up to about 38 knots. Dial it back to a 30-knot comfortable cruise speed and range is around 450 nautical miles. Some of Change Order‘s navigation tech includes:

  • 2/Garmin 8617 GPSMap 17-inch touchscreen displays
  • Garmin 7-inch touchscreen display with C-zone system
  • Garmin open-array radar
  • Garmin autopilot
  • Icom M506 VHF radio
  • 2/CAT engine displays
  • Hatteras systems display
  • AM/FM/SiriusXM/Bluetooth system through Garmin unit

Change Order’s cockpit provides 156 square feet of “dance floor” with a fighting chair and mezzanine seating with cushions. The teak battle saddle with rocket launcher can hold six rods with two cup holders. It can also be covered with an oval table back at the dock for enjoying a few drinks from the refrigerated drink box located in the cockpit step by the salon door. Stow live bait in the transom livewell or frozen bait in the freezer in the mezzanine seating. Reeling in the “big one” is made easy with the transom door lift gate, and keeping it fresh is helped by icing it down thanks to the Eskimo ice machine in lazarette. There’s also an electric grill on top of the mezzanine tackle center. Other cockpit amenities are as follows:

  • Stowage in mezzanine step
  • Stowage in mezzanine step to starboard
  • 6/gaff/chamois under-gunwale holders
  • Fishbox to port with ice chipper dump
  • Fishbox to starboard
  • Large lazarette, Seakeeper ready
  • Teak covering boards
  • 6/in-gunwale rod holders
  • 6/Haunch clearing rod holders
  • Lumitec underwater lights

Access to the flybridge is from a ladder on the starboard side of the cockpit. The flybridge has a center helm pod and is air conditioned. As you head out to the fishing grounds, the crew can relax on a large lounge forward the helm, which also has a freezer underneath, bench-style settees to port and starboard with stowage underneath or join the captain at the helm with a companion helm chair with footrests. Owner-operators can easily pilot this yacht from the teak helm pod. This GT59 has a Zipwake trim tab control, Optimus steering display, CAT active station display, fuel gauges, and a Side-Power bow thruster when wanting a little nudge in close quarters. A few additional flybridge amenities include

  • Stowage port & starboard forward in cabinet
  • 3-sided enclosure
  • 5/rod rocket launcher on aft railing
  • Aft LED spreader lights

Change Order’s salon has a sense of elegance with satin-teak woodwork. A sliding glass door separates the salon from the cockpit, with an Amtico threshold at the entrance. Friends can relax on  the L-shaped sofa to port, which pulls out to a double berth with stowage underneath and a custom cocktail table. On the starboard side, there is a C-shaped sofa with a table. Catch the game on the 40-inch Samsung flat-screen TV to starboard with electric lift or step up to the galley to prep a meal.

Change Order’s peninsula-style galley is forward of the salon. Its central location allows owners to easily entertain their friends relaxing in the salon, catching fish from the cockpit or cheering from the flybridge. Corian countertops provide plenty of room for meal prep. There is a Miele four-burner cooktop and microwave/convection oven hidden behind a cabinet door that allows owners to cook up anything, including the catch of the day. Cold goods can be stowed in the two under-counter refrigeration units, four drawers total, and other galley accessories in stowage drawers and cabinets. It also has a durable Amtico sole.

After a long day on the water, guests can turn into one of three staterooms. The master stateroom is carpeted with a queen-sized walkaround berth and an en suite head. Stowage is available in a cedar-lined hanging closet, cabinet, stowage drawers and nightstands with drawers. Two reading lamps allow you to nose into a book before falling asleep, or catch some late-night TV on the Samsung flat-screen TV. The VIP stateroom has a queen-sized island berth with stowage underneath and an en suite head. Guests can stow their belongings in a cedar-lined hanging locker and overhead lockers to port and starboard. The third starboard-side stateroom has  over/under berths.

Where is the Change Order located? The yacht is currently lying in Stuart, Florida.

Most boaters start their journey with owner-operator-size boats, but as their enthusiasm for the pastime grows as well as their voyaging aspirations, so does the length of the boat. There comes a point where some boaters will choose to leave the helm chair and enter the crewed-yacht arena. If you’re a boater considering that move, here are 10 ready-to-roam yachts looking for new owners and new adventures.

Ocean Alexander 27R
The Ocean Alexander 27R Almost Done is on the market with just 470 hours on its twin 1,650 hp MAN diesels. Top speed is 24 knots. Asking price is $7.99 million. Courtesy MarineMax

Ocean Alexander 27R – Almost Done – Pompano Beach, Florida

MarineMax has Almost Done, an Ocean Alexander 27R, listed at $7.99 million. The low-hour 2022 build will make a lasting impression with its beach club, whirlpool spa and five-stateroom layout which has an on-deck master stateroom and three VIP staterooms in total.

The “R in this series from Ocean Alexander, stands for Revolution,” Yachting previously reported. “It’s an apt description because the series, which also includes the 88-foot 27R and 97-foot 30R, is different from anything else Ocean Alexander has built in its 40-plus years in business. Starting with the styling, which is decidedly modern and edgy, there’s a deliberate break from the builder’s more traditional look. It’s all the more notable that the appearances of both the traditional cruisers and the Revolution series come from yacht designer Evan K. Marshall.”

Sanlorenzo SL96A
This Sanlorenzo SL96A is a 2021 model with a four-stateroom layout and 29-knot speed. Asking price: $9.25 million. Courtesy Allied Marine

2021 Sanlorenzo SL96A – Gatsby – Miami, Florida

The Sanlorenzo SL96A Gatsby is currently listed with Allied Marine for $9.25 million.

“The ‘A’ in SL96A stands for asymmetric and Sanlorenzo achieves this unique design by, Conserving only the gangway on the starboard side and eliminating the one on the port side, which shifts to the roof of the superstructure,” says Sanlorenzo. “The asymmetrical configuration, seen on SL102A first, frees up about 10 square meters of space for internal use. With respect to a traditional layout, this arrangement offers more space, improving luminosity and flexibility.”

Furniture placement in the salon helps to define the yacht’s social spaces. A six-person L-shaped settee and ottoman are immediately to starboard with only a cabinet separating the settee from the sliding glass doors leading to the cockpit. A formal dining space for eight guests is adjacent to the salon’s settee, a feat only achieved because of the extra space afforded by the asymmetrical design. A flat-screen TV is mounted forward against the bulkhead separating the salon from the galley forward and to starboard, and the on-deck master suite forward and to port. A day head is just forward of the bulkhead and to port.”

Viking Yachts 93 Motor Yacht
The Viking Yachts 93 Motor Yacht Obsession has 27-knot speed, a five-stateroom layout that sleeps 10 and a two-cabin crew quarters. Asking price? $7.4 million. Courtesy Gilman Yachts

2018 Viking 93 Motor Yacht – Obsession – Stuart, Florida

Gilman Yachts has Obsession, a Viking Yachts 93 Motor Yacht, listed and an asking $7.4 million. The 2018 enclosed-flybridge motor yacht has charter potential with its five-stateroom layout, two crew cabins and a sub six-foot draft.

Yachting‘s initial review of the Viking 93 Motor Yacht reported how the New Jersey boatbuilder’s flagship model was based on its 75 Motor Yacht’s design, but also drew inspiration from a Viking owner’s Westport 112.

“One Viking owner also has a Westport, and Viking’s designers and top brass spent a good amount of time on board that yacht learning how to nail down the needs of owners in that size range. What Viking developed from that experience is a boat built for socializing, one that lets hands-on owners feel at home while enjoying mega-yacht features.”

Hatteras M90 Panacera
Twin 1,900 hp Caterpillar C-32A diesels with just 500 hours on them give Jetstream a reported 24.7-knot top-end speed. Courtesy Atlantic Yacht and Ship

2019 Hatteras M90 – Jetstream – Key Largo, Florida

The Hatteras Yachts M90 Panacea called Jetstream is listed with Atlantic Yacht & Ship for $10.3 million. The 2019 build has an options list that totals more than $2 million. The motoryacht has a four-stateroom, five-head layout that sleeps 10.

This yacht can go the distance or go quickly. Captain’s choice. Twin 1,900 hp Caterpillar C-32A diesels provide power on Jetstream, giving it a reported 24.7-knot top speed and a 22-knot cruise speed. The engines have just 500 hours on them. Jetstream also has a Bahamas-friendly 5-foot-7-inch draft.

This Hatteras M90 Panacea has the performance, but it also has luxury cruising comfort. The salon feels thoroughly modern, thanks in part to the white-oak sole and light-tone furnishings. Frameless house-spanning windows and indirect lighting adds a sense of elegance and enhances the salon’s open feeling.

Ocean Alexander 100 Skylounge
The Ocean Alexander 100 Skylounge Lanikai has a five-stateroom layout, low-hour (450) MTU diesels and 24-knot speed. Asking Price: $9.8 million. Courtesy Alexander Marine

2019 Ocean Alexander 100 Skylounge – Lanikai – Seattle, Washington

Alexander Marine has Lanikai, an Ocean Alexander 100 Skylounge, listed for sale with an asking price of $9.8 million. The 2019 motoryacht has a five-stateroom layout, a crew quarters and engines with very low hours. Let’s take a closer look.

When Yachting first reported on the 100 Skylounge we noted at the time that “Ocean Alexander already offers a 90-footer with a four-stateroom layout whose guest spaces would qualify as VIP suites on most yachts. With its OA 100 Skylounge, the builder has added an on-deck master, much like the kind aboard superyachts. That’s one reason why Ocean Alexander calls the 100 Skylounge the entry-level yacht in its six-model mega-yacht series, which stretches up to 155 feet length overall.”

Hatteras 80 Done Deal

Paragon 94
The Paragon 94 has a three-stateroom layout and 20-knot speed. Asking price: $2.975 million. Courtesy Worth Avenue Yachts

2009 Paragon 94 – Rhapsody – Chesapeake, Virginia

Rhapsody, a 2009 Paragon 94, underwent an extensive refit by Lyman Morse in 2018. The 94-foot motoryacht is currently listed for $2.975 million with Worth Avenue Yachts, which represents a $750,000-plus price reduction.

The refit included servicing all equipment and systems, updating soft goods, adding a dining area, transforming the flybridge into an enclosed skylounge and repainting the upper deck space.

Twin 1,550 hp Caterpillar C-32 diesel engines work with the yacht’s planing hull form (with 13.5-degree transom deadrise) to help propel this 100-ton motoryacht to a 20-knot top hop and a 14-knot cruise speed. The engines have just over 2,000 hours on them.

Hargrave 82 Open Deck
The cruise-worthy Hargrave 82 Open Deck Roxy Maria is a 2007 build with 23-knot-speed and a $1.995 million asking price. Courtesy Hargrave Custom Yachts

2007 Hargrave 82 – Roxy Maria – Fort Lauderdale, Florida

The 2007 Hargrave 82 Open Bridge motoryacht Roxy Maria could be a solid fit for an experienced owner-operator or for owners traveling with a small crew, according to Hargrave Custom Yachts, who built the motoryacht and is selling it for its current owners. The yacht is listed for $1.995 million.

When it comes to boat handling with or without crew, this Hargrave has upper and lower helm stations, bow and stern thrusters and two cockpit docking stations. There are also full walkaround decks and side-deck access from the lower helm station.

With regards to the interior layout, this yacht’s salon has three lounge chairs positioned around the room with a four-person sofa to port. The sole-to-ceiling, high -gloss cherry wood creates a comfortable, warm and inviting entertainment space. This interior design is from Yacht Interiors by Shelley.

The Ocean Alexander 84R Skylounge Panacea is currently listed with Gilman Yachts for $6.65 million. The 2020 motor yacht has accommodations to sleep eight guests in its four-stateroom, five-head layout.

Yachting has previously reported that “the 84R is built via resin infusion with structural foam, fiberglass and carbon fiber, for strength at sea. Carbon fiber is applied to high-stress areas and used in construction of the sky lounge. Aluminum beams in the bulkheads and ceiling further strengthen the yacht.”

85-foot Burger Checkers

2001 Burger 85 – Checkers – Destin, Florida

2005 Hinckley Yachts Talaria 40 – Elise – Portland, Maine

“The new [Hinckley] Talaria 40 is neither as sporty as her smaller sibling nor as soft on the senses as her larger sister. She fits nicely between the two, with accommodations that invite owners to spend more than a weekend aboard, even to prepare meals and sleep,” Yachting previously reported.

Worth Avenue Yachts has Elise, a Hinckley Yachts Talaria 40 that combines classic downeast lines with angling features, listed for sale with a $599,000 price tag. While the yacht was originally delivered in 2005, it was transformed in 2012 after naval architect Mathew Smith, engineers from Volvo Penta and Hank Hinckley replaced the standard jet propulsion system with the latest Volvo Penta IPS pod-drive propulsion system, resulting in a “groundbreaking and first-of-its-kind modification,” according to Worth Avenue Yachts.

The yacht has “enhanced tracking, superior turning ability, and a more efficient midrange cruise compared to traditional jet-powered counterparts,” says the broker, adding, “Elise goes a step further by offering dynamic positioning, allowing her to hold a specific GPS position at the touch of a button—an invaluable feature not only around docks but also during bridge wait times or while observing an upwind mark rounding in a sailing race.”

With the yacht’s previous owner being an avid fisherman, they added an array of features that enhance the fishing experience, including 27-foot Rupp removable outriggers, rod holders, a baitwell, a slightly modified cockpit, a removable rocket launcher and a livewell.

Belowdecks, owners and guests have access to the day head to port, the V-berth cabin forward and the galley to starboard. The galley is equipped with a Corian countertop, a two-burner Princess electric cooktop, a single-basin polished stainless-steel sink, a Sharp convection microwave oven, an Adler Barbour refrigerator/freezer and a U-Line ice maker.

The interior has two L-shaped settees and a fixed table to port. Twin low-hour (653) 435 hp Volvo Penta IPS600 diesels power the 40-footer.

Additional features aboard Elise include:

  • Simrad AP28 Autopilot
  • Icom IC-M602 VHF
  • Raymarine ST60 Tri-data display

Grand Banks 46 Eastbay SX – 2012 – Defiance – Essex, Connecticut

“Sportiness is not a modifier often associated with Downeast-style express cruisers. But the new 46 Eastbay is powered by the Zeus propulsion system from Cummins MerCruiser Diesel, which changes the game as far as performance and handling are concerned,” Yachting previously reported

Grand Banks Yachts built, and is currently selling Defiance, a Grand Banks 46 Eastbay SX, for $829,000. The 2012 Downeast Cruiser features a two-stateroom, two-head layout. It’s powered by twin 600 hp Cummins QSC 8.3 diesels with Zeus pod drives, which give the 46 Eastbay SX a 31-knot top hop.

2018 Azimut 50 Fly – Relentless – Miami, Florida

First-time guests probably won’t even notice the main deck galley which feels seamlessly integrated into the port-side counters, directly across from the two helm seats.

In addition to the flybridge amenities like the sun roof, sink, refrigerator and barbecue, it also has entertainment spaces like two facing sofa aft and a U-shaped dinette forward that doubles as a lounge pad. In the cockpit below guests can enjoy alfresco dining at the transom settee and fixed table, pull up a few chairs to fit up to six people. On the foredeck owners and their guests can enjoy sunbathing on the two-person sun pad.

Relentless has sleeping accommodations for up to six people in three staterooms. The full-beam amidships master stateroom has a centerline berth and an en suite head as does the forepeak VIP stateroom. The starboard guest stateroom has single bunk berths.

Twin low-hour (750) 670 hp Volvo D11 diesels power Relentless pushing it to a reported 32-knot top hop and a 25-knot cruise speed.

2008 Huckins 60 – Marina – Naples, Florida

“Her reverse transom masks an integral swim platform, which seems a practical compromise to tradition and accounts for her length overall (60 feet, 3 inches). Her styling has been refined: It’s a bit softer and has more curves than Frank Huckins might have liked. Such features were not efficient in wood construction. The gentle rise of her slightly reverse sheer, her proud chine, and the conservative rake of her stem are trademark Huckins,” Yachting previously reported

Allied Marine has a 2008 Huckins 60 for sale with a $995,000 asking price. Marina, a 60-foot motoryacht, has a two-stateroom layout, a new Glendinning Joystick control system and a 2-foot, 7-inch shoal draft.

The open, dance-floor-sized cockpit is a blank canvas for owners to equip to suit their entertainment needs, fishing and more.

A few steps up from the cockpit is the bridge deck, which has the helm forward and two three-person sofas flanking the lounge space aft. A fixed, high-gloss folding table between them turns the lounge area into a formal dining spot.

Stepping belowdecks, there is a salon and open galley with three hullside windows on either side bathing the space in natural light, creating the sense of interior volume. Galley appliances include:

  • Sub-Zero refrigerator and freezer
  • Miele dishwasher
  • Miele oven
  • Kenyon two-burner ceramic stovetop
  • Granite countertops
  • Built-In storage for crystal, china and flatware

Abaft the lower-deck lounge area and down a few steps is the full-beam amidships master stateroom, which has a queen berth and an en suite his-and-hers head, separated by a shower stall. The forepeak guest stateroom has V-berths.

Marina has the same 715 hp Cummins QSM 11 diesels our test yacht had, which saw a 31-knot top hop and a 25-knot cruise.

Notable helm features on board Marina include:

2012 Riva SportRiva 56 – Gabriela – North Miami, Florida

“Riva’s SportRiva 56 is a dangerous yacht. It will blur your eyesight, disturb your emotions, mess with your mind. It is that older woman with the sultry eyes sitting alone at the bar. Outside entertainment spaces on board Gabriela include a foredeck sun pad, two lounge pads on the flybridge and a diner-style booth in the cockpit.

In the salon, guests will find seating to port with a settee and fixed table adjacent to the helm station.

From the Archive: Hatteras Yachts 80 Motor Yacht

“The 80 is an attractive offering for the discriminating cruising family looking for quality beyond the norm. Though she is large, a small crew can easily handle her. Her 5-foot, 4-inch draft is well suited to Bahamian locales, and her broad beam and ample displacement should prove worthy of more adventurous crossings.

With the optional passerelle, the 80 will be a standout Med-moored beside the Italian entries in her category, both inside and out. Her exterior styling is a departure from Hatteras’ past designs, which relied mightily on Jack Hargrave’s still-popular concept of solidly performing, narrow-beam motoryachts. This new 80-footer is all about beam and the convex hull on which Hatteras Yachts is staking its future.”
